It is a term used to characterize concave and convex geometric shapes.
If the angle of the polygon is greater than 180 °, it is called concave, if all angles are smaller than 180º convex.
There are two angles in every corner of the polygons, interior and exterior.

External angle: External angle is the external angle of the polygon.
