Why is the minimum wage less

The minimum wage is the minimum amount paid to private sector employees in return for a 1 -month work. This amount is calculated by the Ministry of Social Security. The basic needs of the employee, which is the basic needs of food, housing, health, transportation, clothing and culture, it is calculated at the minimum price to meet the requirements.

In today's conditions, the minimum wage does not carry reality in meeting the basic needs. The data says that the hunger limit of a family of 4 people is 1065 TL and the poverty limit is 3470 TL.

So why could the minimum wage be so small?

• The minimum wage can only be low because of the employee considering and the needs of the households are prepared by not considering.
• The minimum wage for the protection of employers may be low. In particular, small businesses will not cover high wages and thus will have to employ less workers. This will cause unemployment.
• The minimum wage may be low to prevent illegal workers' work. High prices in the minimum wage will encourage illegal workers to employ. The state will create a wide volume of tax loss.
